Contacting Court Diversion and Court Support Workers
Program staff are available at the provincial court house in Peterborough when the court is sitting or can be reached at the CMHA Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge main office at 705-748-6711.
The court support worker assists consumers who are involved in the legal system and present with a mental health, addiction and /or dual diagnosis. The court support worker assists consumers as an advocate between the crown and defence attorneys. Services can include assistance inside the court room, referrals to community resources, recommendations to the crown and defence councils, helping consumers navigate the legal system, assisting consumers to interpret legal documents. The program does not provide legal advice.
Court Support Services
The case manager provides more intensive services to consumers who in conjunction with legal concerns, they require additional support related to other areas of their life. Case managers also support consumers who have been approved for a diversion program and meet with them on a regular basis. The case manager may assist consumers through referrals, advocacy, appointments, housing needs, securing appropriate benefits.
Youth Mental Health Court Services
Youth services provides assistance to those consumers ages 12-17 who are currently involved with the legal system and present with a mental health issue, addiction and/or dual diagnosis. The court support worker will assist youth within the court arena, provide referrals to appropriate community services and work with probation managers in securing needed services. The court support worker will advocate for the consumer to ensure that their needs are being met.
