Talk Now Walk-in Clinic Adjusts Hours for Summer to Support Local Youth and Families
Jun 3, 2025
Peterborough, ON – The Talk Now Child, Youth and Family Walk-in Clinic is encouraging families across Peterborough to take advantage of a vital mental health resource – a Walk-In Clinic with no appointment needed, now with adjusted summer hours to better meet community needs.
Starting in July and continuing through August, the clinic—located at Peterborough Youth Services (PYS), 459 Reid Street in Peterborough, will operate Tuesdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., shifting from its regular 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. schedule. This seasonal change aims to make services more accessible during the summer months when routines and availability often shift for families.
The Talk Now clinic offers dedicated, barrier-free mental health walk-in counseling for children, youth, and families navigating behavioral and emotional challenges. Mental health services providers from PYS and partner agencies are on-site, available to meet people in-person every Tuesday afternoon.
“We know children and youth are struggling, and we want them to know they’re not alone,” says Matt Sheridan, Child and Youth Mental Health Program Director at Peterborough Youth Services. “This clinic is here for them—no referrals, no long waits, just real help when they need it.”
Talk Now is a collaborative initiative of the Peterborough Ontario Health Team, delivered in partnership with seven trusted community agencies: Kinark Child and Family Services, Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Peterborough Family Health Team, Peterborough Youth Services, FourCAST, Canopy, and CMHA HKPR.
Services available at the clinic include:
- Single-session counselling/therapy to address immediate concerns and develop a plan
- Support connecting to longer-term care if needed
- Confidential, virtual services available as often as needed
