Support Mental Health, Addictions Services, and Awareness through #GivingTuesdayNow
Apr 30, 2020
The Canadian Mental Health Association, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.) invites you to join us as we participate in #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity taking place on May 5, as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Giving Tuesday Now is in addition to the regularly scheduled Giving Tuesday, which takes place annually on the first Tuesday of December, representing a time when charities, companies and individuals join together to give back to their favourite causes.
The effects of COVID-19 have impacted individuals globally and the pandemic has and will continue to have a considerable impact on mental health. Individuals with a pre-existing mental health concern are particularly vulnerable during this time as they are at risk of having their condition worsen as a result of a variety of factors including heightened anxiety around getting basic needs met, financial strain, grief, feelings of isolation, and much more.
C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. is working to meet the evolving needs of clients by continuing to provide essential mental health programming and services in the communities we serve. This includes assisting clients in getting basic needs met as well as providing technology for clients in need as we shift to a virtual care model, allowing clients the ability to continue to connect with their support system.
Donations to C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. can be made at givingtuesday.ca. Donations will support us in continuing to work towards mental health for all in the communities we serve throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mental health matters, now more than ever, and in light of Mental Health Week next week, we encourage individuals to be open about their mental health and #GetReal about how they’re feeling.
