Psychiatry Clinic
The CMHA HKPR Psychiatry Clinic provides timely and responsive access to general psychiatrists and mental health nurses for those 16 yrs and older and who reside in Peterborough and County, Northumberland, Kawartha Lakes, and Haliburton. Individuals are connected to a psychiatrist virtually in Peterborough with the support of the mental health nurses. Generally, the psychiatry clinic offers one-time consultation with some instances of follow-up support. Referrals often help with medication changes, diagnostic clarifications, referrals, and mental health treatment recommendations.
To access the psychiatry program a referral from a Primary Care Provider (NP, GP, Walk in Clinic doctor) is required. Exclusionary criteria include but is not limited to individuals with a dual diagnosis, history of traumatic brain injury, untreated or unmanaged psychosis, acute substance use, individuals seeking Ontario Disability Support Program(ODSP), court, insurance, and/or forensic forms/reports.
Appointments take place at 415 Water St. Peterborough. To ensure equitable access to care translation services are available and off-site appointments can be arranged for an alternate location.
