Herod Financial Services donates $20K to C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.

We are pleased to announce Herod Financial Services has generously donated $20,000 to the Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge’s (C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.’s) Journeying Together program as part of the Great Canadian Giving Challenge, a virtual fundraising contest running from June 1 to June 30.

C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.’s Journeying Together program provides education and support to caregivers and family members of individuals with a mental health concern. The program supports approximately 250 individuals per year, helping them learn how to better support their loved ones and themselves.

C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. would like to sincerely thank Kevan and Roberta Herod, founders of Herod Financial Services, for their generous donation.

“The Herods continue to be leaders in supporting caregiver mental health in our community and have championed our Journeying Together program since 2014. They have been instrumental in the success of the program and have shown a passion for assisting caregivers,” says Jack Veitch, Manager of Community Engagement and Education.

“We are so grateful for our Journeying Together group. We received help that we didn’t even realize was possible,” says a caregiver currently receiving support from the program. “We are still a work in progress and are grateful to have the support of this wonderful group.”

The donation also furthers C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.’s chances in the Great Canadian Giving Challenge, a national contest through CanadaHelps benefiting registered Canadian charities. Every $1 donated to a registered charity in June via CanadaHelps.org or via the organization’s donation page, automatically acts as a ballot and enters the charity to win an additional $20,000 donation. The grand prize draw will be held July 1.

“The Herod’s donation will not only help us provide continued support to caregivers through our Journeying Together program, it also brings us one step closer to winning the $20,000 grand prize through the Giving Challenge. All of which allows us to continue to deliver mental health supports in our community,” says Veitch.

So far, the Giving Challenge has raised $23,700, thanks to Herod Financial Services as well as other corporate donors, Corus Entertainment’s The Wolf 101.5, 100.5 Fresh Radio, and Global News Peterborough. C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. would also like to thank fundraising volunteers Jim Rainey and Mike Post. Jim, as a past employee of Herod Financial Services has passionately advocated on behalf of this campaign. While Mike Post has too been a cornerstone of mental health fundraising initiatives in our community.
