Student Placements

C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. values the significant benefits that strong student placement experiences offer, to not only the students but also our staff who are placement mentors, the organization and the community as a whole.

Our goal is to offer top-notch, well-supported “real-life” professional growth opportunities to students who are interested in community mental health placements at C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.

We are proud to have an affiliation with the Trent University Department of Social Work and Fleming College.  When available, we are pleased to offer practical placements to selected third and fourth year students from Trent University Social Work Programs and periodically to Fleming students in various programs, including Social Service Worker.

In order to help you select the program or service you may be interested in, we encourage you to learn about our different programs and services that have offered student placement in previous years.

Application Process

C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. accepts requests for student placements directly from the academic institution. If you are interested in a placement with us, please connect with your academic institution for information on how to apply.

Please note that applying for a placement does not guarantee that a placement will occur. Applications will be reviewed to ensure we have the resources available to adequately support a student, and also to ensure that the goals and objectives of the student fit within C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.’s Mission, Vision and Values.

Diversity Statement:

C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. values diversity and inclusion. As a service provider, an employer and a community partner, we strive to always be respectful and sensitive to race, culture, ethnicity, gender, age, abilities, religion, gender identity and sexual orientation.

C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. is committed to providing accessible employment practices in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Should any applicant require accommodation through the application and placement process, please inform Human Resources in your application.

Vaccination Policy:

C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. will require all new staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination status before the first day of employment. For this purpose, an individual is defined as fully immunized equal or greater than 14 days after receiving their second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series or their first dose of a one-dose COVID-19 vaccine series that is approved by Health Canada.
