Dirty Enduro coming to Harold Town Conservation Area

Dirty Enduro 2018 Press Conference

Kerri Davies, Manager of Community Engagement, with Ben and Ashley Logan of Fontaine Source for Sports

The Canadian Mental Health Association, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.)  is pleased to announce details for the 2018 Dirty Enduro. Sponsored by Ben and Ashley Logan of Fontaine Source for Sports, the Dirty Enduro carries on a 20-year tradition of mountain biking in support of C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R., at a new location, Harold Town Conservation Area.  The event takes place August 18, 2018 and includes a 12-kilometre and 24-kilometre loop for ages 13+ as well as a special Shimano sponsored children’s event for children 12 and under.

Focused on family participation and fun, Ben and Ashley see the new Dirty Enduro as a time for folks who are new to mountain biking to join riders that are more experienced for a fun day on the trails, all in support of mental health. With two young children of their own, they know the importance of instilling in their children an awareness of the importance of regular physical activity while promoting positive mental health. That is why they have chosen C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.’s Kids on the Block Program to receive this year’s proceeds. Kids on the Block is a children’s education program that focuses on children’s wellness and in particular mental health. The program is delivered using life-size puppets in schools, libraries and community centres addressing topics such as bullying, building resilience and the importance of physical activity.

Interested riders can register at raceroster.com/events/2018/18324/dirty-enduro-2018 or in person on the day of the event. Register by June 15 at a discounted rate of only $50 and an event t-shirt  is guaranteed. Registration after June 15 is $60; event t-shirt will be provided if available. Kids 12 and under can participate in the Shimano Kids Ride at no cost and are encouraged to pre-register, as space is limited.

Medals will be awarded to the top finishers in each category but the big prizes at the Dirty Enduro are awarded for fundraising. The top adult fundraiser, as well as the top child fundraiser will each take home a prize. In addition, for every $100 raised, riders will receive an entry for a chance to win a bonus prize. Once registered online, participants can launch their fundraising campaign by asking their friends, family and colleagues to donate through the Race Roster event page, simply by clicking “Donate to Participant” and searching for the appropriate rider.

According to a survey undertaken by @MTB_Research, 78% of mountain bikers feel that biking makes them feel stronger and more resilient. 94% state “my every-day worries fade when I ride.” More great reasons to sign up for the Dirty Enduro 2018!
