Pride Week in Peterborough

Let’s celebrate Pride!

Peterborough Pride has marked September 18 through 27th as Pride Week with the theme of “Pride in Other Spaces” and the CMHA HPKR Diversity Committee invites the public to participate in a number of virtual events happening in the community.

athlete runningWe are proud to highlight the free screening of ‘Changing the Game’, made possible through a partnership between our very own Gender Journeys program and ReFrame Film Festival.  The film is available online here until September 27.

This dynamic documentary takes us into the lives of three high school athletes—all at different stages of their athletic seasons, personal lives, and unique paths as trans teens. Their stories span across the U.S.—from Sarah, a skier and teen policymaker in New Hampshire, to Andraya, a track star in Connecticut openly transitioning into her authentic self. The film centers on Mack Beggs, who made headlines last year when he became the Texas State Champion in wrestling.

Gender Journeys has also planned a panel for the Trans Day of Resilience this Friday (Sept. 25). The event features four panelists with various lived experiences in the trans* community. Join Gender Journeys and trans community members for an afternoon of conversation. Panelists will discuss their diverse lived experiences, navigating gendered spaces, allyship, and finding and fostering trans community during the COVID 19 epidemic.
