Subject: 4th Annual Merrett Home Hardware “Run for Mental Health”

Location: Runner’s Life – 174 Charlotte Street, Peterborough
Time: 5:00 p.m. – all runners must check in – event begins at 5:45 p.m.

Following yesterday’s Press Conference, The Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.) is pleased to provide details of the Fourth Annual Merrett Home Hardware Run for Mental Health taking place September 14th, 2019 at Runner’s Life, 174 Charlotte Street Peterborough.

This year’s event is once again in support of funding a Family Education Support Worker as part of C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.’s Assertive Outreach for Suicide Prevention (A.O.S.P.) program. Since 2016, over $50,000 has been raised from this event to support the funding of a Family Education Support Worker. Through the A.O.S.P. program, over 100 vulnerable individuals, each who have made a serious suicide attempt, have been supported.

“Our Family Education Support Worker has connected with many family members to enhance the support of their loved one following discharge from the hospital. We know that a person who has made a suicide attempt is at risk to attempt again within the first few weeks after discharge. Through A.O.S.P., support is enhanced for the individual and their family, leading to better and safer outcomes for everyone,” says Tracy Graham, program manager of the A.O.S.P. program at C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R.

C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. is pleased to donate a portion of the proceeds from this event to the YES Shelter for Youth and Families.

Runner’s can register online at https://runformentalhealth.itsyourrace.com/register/ for a 5k or 10k run through downtown Peterborough. The event will also include a 2.5k walk/run for children as well as fun for the whole family to enjoy, with live music and face painting! All runs begin at Runner’s Life at 174 Charlotte Street, Peterborough. Runners must check in at 5:00 p.m. and the event starts at 5:45 p.m.

“We are pleased to welcome back Merrett Home Hardware as the presenting sponsor, Lett Architects as the Silver Sponsor and Bronze sponsor Medical Centre Pharmacy,” says event organizer, Dave Dame of Runner’s Life.

C.M.H.A. H.K.P.R. would like to thank Dave Dame for organizing this annual event and Runner’s Life for hosting it.
