Herod Financial Services Donates $25,000 to Support Caregiver Mental Health

The Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) is proud to announce a generous $25,000 donation from Kevan and Roberta Herod, of Herod Financial Services. This contribution will directly support CMHA HKPR’s Journeying Together program.

The Journeying Together program provides compassionate, one-on-one support to family members and caregivers of individuals living with mental illness. Through education, advocacy, and emotional support, the program helps families navigate the complexities of mental health care, reduce isolation, and build resilience. Services are offered in-person and virtually across the region, ensuring accessibility for all who need them.

This latest donation continues the Herod family’s longstanding commitment to caregiver mental health in our community. Over the past decade, Kevan and Roberta Herod have donated nearly $200,000 to CMHA HKPR, making them one of the organization’s most impactful private supporters. Their contributions have been integral to the ongoing success and sustainability of Journeying Together.

When asked about the significance of their donation, Kevan and Roberta Herod noted “Mental health challenges touch every family — including ours. We’ve seen firsthand how hard it can be for loved ones to navigate the system and find support. Journeying Together makes a real difference for families in that situation, and we’re honoured to play a small part in ensuring this lifeline is available for others in our community.”

CMHA HKPR Chief Executive Officer Ellen Watkins expressed gratitude for the Herods’ continued support. “We are deeply grateful to Herod Financial Services for their continued support” shared Watkins. “Their financial recognition empowers us to continue building inclusive pathways of knowledge, hope, and belonging for individuals supporting loved ones through their mental health journey. This gift is more than a donation; it’s a powerful affirmation of our shared commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.”

The impact of Journeying Together is best understood through the voices of those it serves. One anonymous service recipient shared:

“The Journeying Together program has been a life saver for myself and my family. Our loved one was very ill, and I had no idea how to help her. With the guidance and support of [Journeying Together], I learned to see the signs of psychosis and how to support my loved one when in crisis.”

CMHA HKPR invites others in the community to join the Herods in supporting mental health initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives. To learn more about Journeying Together or to make a donation, visit cmhahkpr.ca/donate.
