CMHA HKPR Highlights World Suicide Prevention Day and Suicide Prevention Month
Sep 9, 2025
The Canadian Mental Health Association, Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) is joining communities across the country in recognizing World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10 and marking September as Suicide Prevention Month.
Every year, approximately 4,500 Canadians die by suicide, that’s an average of 12 people dying by suicide each day. These deaths are preventable, and awareness is a vital first step toward saving lives.
To support those in crisis, Canada’s national suicide crisis helpline, 9-8-8, offers free and confidential support by call or text, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
This World Suicide Prevention Day, CMHA HKPR encourages everyone to take a moment to learn about 9-8-8 and share it widely. You never know who might need it.
By recognizing and remembering 9-8-8, we help build stronger, more responsive communities.
If you or someone you know is struggling or thinking about suicide, please reach out for help. Call or text 9-8-8 anytime to reach the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline. Available 24/7/365.
