A Community Support Worker provides education and support to help people maintain their home; to help them manage daily living activities; and to ensure safety within the home. Community Support Workers also provide education around healthy lifestyles.
There are a limited number of spots available for people who require Housing Supports but do not live in our Housing. The applicant may not require the diagnosis of a Mental Illness to be eligible for this program however the referring person must speak with the candidate prior to submitting an application to ensure that the person is willing to work with an HSW.
A referral for a Community Support Worker may be submitted from a variety of different sources including the CMHA Intake Worker, an alternate Support Provider (e.g., ACTT, the Schizophrenia Clinic) or another Community Partner (e.g., Peterborough Housing Corporation, the Fire Department). All Housing Support applications are submitted to the Program Manager of Supportive Housing.
